Symbian support for Posix

I just noticed this article on the news feeds. Symbian have announced support for Posix. (Portable Operating System Interface) What this means is it will make it easier for developers of desktop applications to be able to port their program to the Symbian operating system. So, what to me seems a bit geeky, (sorry to any developers reading) ;) will actually (hopefully) bring a bigger range of familiar desktop applications to your Symbian handset. The example given is file sharing applications could be ported to Symbain, such as eMule or Azureus, if the developer wished.

Could lead to some interesting applciations being made available for your smartphone, which can only be a good thing.
